Sophia, a social justice organization in Waukesha, is hosting a one hour zoom meeting June 18 at 7 p.m. to discuss the film, "Suppressed" which examines voter suppression in the US. We have been invited by one of my seminary classmates Linda Gaugan, who is a long time Sophia member, and who has attended our worship services occasionally over the years. Please see the flier for all the details: link to the documentary, registration link and link to the zoom meeting.
I plan to participate. Hope you will consider learning more about what suppression is, how it occurs and what we can do about it.

MM Book & Movie List

Dear Community, At Homily Sharing time on Sunday, December 29 we shared a look back on books and movies. My invitation was to share what were our "favorites" for the past year in terms of reading and viewing that inspired, uplifted, informed, and challenged us. The discussion was wonderful and here is the list. I will have it posted on our website - maybe a sidebar link or in the Members Section. Any selections not mentioned that you would like to see included, please send me an email either to this address or to jimryan6885@gmail.com and I will see that it gets included. Take care, Jim

"The Catholic Church and the Struggle Against White Nationalism: Missing in Action?"

Father Bryan Massingale, Professor of Theological and Social Ethics and the James and Nancy Buckman Chair in Applied Christian Ethics
at Fordham University, Delivers his 2019 Howard Thurman lecture in room 252 of Candler School of Theology.
Event co-sponsored by Candler's Black Church Studies department and the Catholic Studies department.
For those of you who are concerned about the rise of white nationalism and the role of the Black Church AND the Catholic Church in
combating it. You will learn much from this 2 hour lecture by Rev. Bryan Massingale, black priest formerly of the Milwaukee WI diocese,
who is known world wide for his work in this area. He was my professor of Moral Theology at St. Frances de Sales Seminary, where I
earned my M. Div. It is worth your time, I assure you. A great way to spend some time on a dreary, cold, wet blustery day in Wisconsin

image 0234Here is the face of the future Catholic Church! All people, young and old, male and female, together at the altar consecrating the Eucharist, saying the blessing prayers together. Does it really matter what nationality, race, orientation, age, or gender a person is to reverence and worship God? A baptism is a baptism. All are God’s own and all can and are called to the table. A call to priestly service is not dependent on anything but the grace of God which is the call!
